The Citroen Saxo was launched in 1996 with a wide choice of Petrol Engines which are 1.0i 50BHP (60BHP On later Versions), 1.1i 60BHP, 1.4i 75BHP,1.6i 8v 90BHP, 1.6i 16v 120BHP and a 1.5D 58BHP Diesel Engine all with a 5 Speed Manual Gearbox.

A Few months later a 1.6i 90BHP 3 Speed Automatic was introduced.

The Saxo also came with the 4 digit Keypad Immobiliser.

Late 1997 the Saxo got a new style grill plus the 1.6i 90BHP 3 Speed Automatic was replaced with a 1.4i 75BHP 3 Speed Automatic. The Key Pad Immobiliser was replaced with a security chip in the vehicle's key.

The Saxo had a Facelift at the front end different interor patterns and was launched in the UK in December 1999.

The 1.6i 8v 90BHP VTR was replaced with a 1.6i 8v 100BHP VTR.

The Saxo 1.4i 75BHP Automatic was discontinued in Feb 2002.

The Saxo had plenty of Models to choose from even if on a tight budget.

On the New Saxo the engines gave more mpg and less co2. For Example A 1996 Saxo 1.1i 60BHP did 42mpg on a combined cycle and produced 159 g/km co2 and a 2001 Saxo 1.1i 60BHP does 46mpg on a combined cycle and only produces 145 g/km co2.

Even the Sporty VTR 1.6i 8v 100BHP is more greener and better on Fuel than the 1.6i 8v 90BHP.

Those of you who own or know alot about the Saxo VTS and has a keen eye like myself will notice The Saxo MK2 VTS Diecast Models looks abit different than the real VTS in the UK.

In the rest of Europe Specifications can be different like the real VTS in France has VTR alloys hence why the models has them as the company who makes them are French and you will also notice there are no Sunroofs on the VTS Models. Its due to the fact that the left hand drive versions gets Air Conditioning instead where as this can't be done on right hand drive versions.
